Aphelion

A multimedia memoir in poetry, music, story, and imagery.

What if distance is not always loss? What if the moments that feel most disorienting are also the moments when we begin to discover who we are becoming?

Aphelion is a multimedia performance that explores the surprising gifts and challenges of solitude, creativity, grief, and renewal. Through original music, poetry, storytelling, and projected imagery, April Stace invites audiences into a deeply personal journey that ultimately reflects universal human questions about identity, purpose, and belonging.

Written during a two-year period of profound transition, Aphelion traces the journey from loss and disorientation toward wonder, freedom, and renewed creative life. Each piece is paired with an original poem, personal narrative, and visual imagery, creating an immersive experience that unfolds somewhere between a concert, a memoir, and a contemplative retreat.

The result is a work that is both memoir and meditation—a reflection on what we discover when familiar roles fall away and we begin listening for what emerges in the quiet.

Aphelion: the point in a planet’s orbit that is farthest from the sun.
